Operations and family experience

Tatiana T. James-Jakpa is Kmath's Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. She helped turn the Kmath system into a company, and today she leads the operating side of it: how families are welcomed, supported and served, every week.

How Kmath began

A company built inside a family

Kmath did not begin inside a large company or with outside investors. It grew inside the founders' own household, on their shared resources, alongside family life and their four children.

Kelly led the creation of the Kmath system itself. Tatiana was part of the work that turned it into a business: the planning, the household commitment behind its development, and the decision to build Kmath as a company and run it together as co-owners.

That commitment goes back to 2024, when the founders began planning Kmath together. From the start, she was one of the two people building it.

Kelly created the educational system. Tatiana helped build the company that carries it to families.

Her role

From a shared commitment to an operating company

A product becomes a company when someone takes responsibility for how it reaches people. How a family is welcomed after sign-up. How a question gets answered. How billing and records are kept in order. How every promise made to a family is kept, week after week.

That is the work Tatiana leads, and it is why her title is Chief Operating Officer.

It is also work she knows from home. All four of the founders' children learn at home, and a household like that runs on organization: materials ready on time, a clear plan for each child, and an easy way to see where each one stands. Those are the same things Kmath promises families every week. Tatiana's job is to make sure the company delivers them as dependably as a family would want for its own children.

What she does now

Making the system work for families

As COO, Tatiana leads the operating side of Kmath: the systems and workflows that turn the product into a dependable experience. Her scope covers:

  • Family and customer operationsHow families are welcomed, served and looked after from sign-up onward.
  • SupportThe systems that make sure a family's question reaches the company and gets answered.
  • Workflows, billing and administrationThe everyday processes that keep the company organized.
  • Reliability and day-to-day executionMaking sure what Kmath promises a family actually happens, every week.

Kmath is designed to run on software and automation rather than a large tutoring staff. That makes operations more important, not less. The technology does much of the repeated work, but families still need the company behind it to be organized, responsive and accountable.

Tatiana's role is to make sure that happens.

Built as parents, too

The family was never an abstract customer

As parents of four, the founders know what a school week looks like from the family side: limited time, more than one child to keep track of, and information that has to make sense the first time it is read.

Kmath's operating side is built for that family. Parents receive what they need in their own language. The week arrives as one package, so families are not asked to log in every day. And when something needs attention, there is a company behind the system that answers for it.

How the company is run

Four standards for every family

  • Clear

Everything a parent receives should be understandable in their own language, without a manual.

  • Reliable

What Kmath promises for the week arrives, on time, every week.

  • Responsive

A family's question reaches the company and gets an answer.

  • Accountable

The system does the repeated work, and identifiable people stand behind it.

How the founders work together

One company. Complementary responsibilities.

  • Kelly O. Jakpa

Founder & CEO. Product vision, diagnostic and learning design, the technology roadmap, growth strategy and long-term company direction.

  • Tatiana T. James-Jakpa

Co-Founder & COO. The operating company around the system: family experience, support, workflows, administration, reliability and day-to-day execution.

In a two-founder company these responsibilities overlap, and the founders work through them together. The clarity is about accountability: someone is responsible for what Kmath does, and someone is responsible for how families experience it.

What she is building

A company families can depend on as it grows

Kmath's promise depends on more than producing lessons or reports. The company has to deliver them consistently, support families when something needs attention, protect the integrity of the experience, and keep doing all of that as the number of families grows.

That is the foundation Tatiana is building alongside Kelly: the workflows, automation and standards that let Kmath serve every family the same way, without depending on any one person, while keeping real, accountable people behind the system.
