Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This page tells you what information Kmath collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not show ads to children.

What we collect

We collect only what we need:

About you: your name, email address, and phone number with country code
About your child: first name, last name, grade and language
Your state and household size. We use them to set your family rate.
Your income, but only through documents you choose to upload
The classroom curriculum or pacing guide you upload
Your child's answers on the assessment, check-ins and practice
A teacher's answers, when you ask a teacher to help
Portal use, such as check-ins done and lessons finished
Billing details, handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Video reviews you choose to send through the portal

How we use it

We use your information to:

Build and deliver your child's plan
Make reports and update the roadmap
Send you weekly lessons and check-in reports
Set your family rate and check it against your documents
Match your child's class curriculum to math skills, so the plan follows the class
Process billing and send receipts
Tell you about changes that affect your child's plan

We do not use your child's data to train any AI model. No AI writes your child's assessment, report or workbook. The plan is made by Kmath SuperBrain™, a rules-based system.

A teacher's answers help us understand the classroom. They never count as math evidence. Only your child's own work does.

Income and curriculum documents

We read income documents once, automatically, to confirm your family rate. We do not store the file: it is gone as soon as it is read, and we email you to confirm. We never ask for your Social Security number. We keep only your household size, the income amount, your rate, the date we deleted the document and the date of your next yearly review. You can always see this list in your portal.

Curriculum documents are read by Google document-reading services (Google Cloud Vision and Gemini) to match them to math skills. We keep them while your family is enrolled. We delete them within 30 days after the account is closed, or sooner if you ask.

Your child's data

Your child's assessment, check-in results, roadmap and reports are kept in your portal. They are used only for your child's program. They are never shared with other families.

We keep your child's learning history: what was taught, the results and the reports. This lets us show progress over time and re-create lost materials. You can download your reports from your portal.

After you cancel

You keep access to your reports until the end of the period you paid for. After you cancel, or after a break of more than 30 days, we keep your child's learning records for 12 months so you can come back. After 12 months, we delete your personal data, except records the law makes us keep for accounting and taxes.

If you come back within 30 days of cancelling, you pick up where you left off and no new DCAR is needed. If your child has been away more than 30 days, they take a new $69 DCAR, because their level may have changed.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your data at any time through the Support page. First we close the account: sign-in stops and we stop using your email address. Then we delete your personal data. We keep only the records the law makes us keep for accounting, tax and handling disputes, and only for as long as the law requires.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies to remember your login and preferences. We do not use advertising trackers. On our public web pages, we count visits with Plausible. Plausible uses no cookies and collects no personal information.

Data security

All data is stored on encrypted servers. The first time you log in, you use a magic link sent to your email. After that, you create a password and sign in with your email and password like any normal account. Passwords are stored as encrypted hashes. We never store or see your plain-text password. If you forget your password, you can reset it by requesting a new link to your email.

Student and parent accounts

Kmath has four separate portal types.

Parent portal: The primary account. You sign in with email and password. The first sign-in uses a magic link. The primary parent sees all enrolled children, manages billing, and controls all permissions.

Student portal: Students do not need an email address. Every student gets a unique ID in the format BP-XXXXXXX. The student enters their 7-digit number and a 4 or 6 digit PIN. This ID appears on every document Kmath sends. The student or the primary parent can change the PIN. Students sign in on their own to take check-ins, open lessons and track their progress.

Co-parent portal: The primary parent can invite up to 5 co-parents. Each co-parent has their own sign-in. A co-parent can see the child's progress and check-ins, but cannot see or change billing.

Teacher or IEP coordinator portal: Created by the primary parent, who sets what it can see. Teachers can upload curriculum to Kmath and view the child's roadmap and progress. IEP coordinators can view adapted reports and track goal progress. Neither can see billing or personal family information.

Children under 13

Kmath is bought by a parent or guardian and used by that parent's child. Many of the children who use Kmath are under 13. So the information we collect from a child is covered by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), a United States federal law.

A child does not create a Kmath account. You create the account, and you give your child access to it. You give consent when you create the account and start the assessment. Before that, we have collected nothing from your child. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us. We will then stop collecting and delete what we hold, except anything the law makes us keep.

We do not ask a child for an address, a phone number, or any contact detail. We do not use your child's information to show them ads, and we do not let anyone else do so. We keep the minimum we need, and we will not ask your child for more than Kmath needs to work.

As a parent, you can review, correct or delete your child's data at any time by contacting us.

We do not sell it and we never use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers who run the service for us. Each may use it only on our instructions:

Stripe, to process payments. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by Kmath.
Supabase, our database and file storage, to hold your account, your child's results, lessons and reports.
Render and Vercel, to host the website and the portal.
Resend, to send you reports, reminders, receipts and account emails.
Google (Cloud Vision and Gemini), to read the curriculum documents you upload.
Google (Gemini), for our support assistant. It reads only the messages families send us, never a child's schoolwork.
Google Translate, to translate the messages between families, teachers and children into the language each person chose. Only the text of the message is sent.
LiveKit, to run live check-in sessions. A session carries your child's camera and microphone to you, their own parent, so you can be present. The session is not recorded and nothing from it is stored.

Your child's answers, results and lesson activity are never sent to an outside AI provider. We may change a provider. If we do, we will update this list.

We use no error-monitoring or advertising service. We will also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.

Your rights as a parent

You can ask to see everything we hold about your child. You can ask us to correct it or delete it. You can also tell us to stop collecting anything more. Contact us using the address at the end of this page. We will confirm you are the parent on the account before we act.

Schools

Kmath is sold to parents, not to schools. We do not contract with schools or districts, and we do not rely on a school to give consent on a parent's behalf. If a teacher is involved, it is because a parent invited them.
